Develop Salone EuBusTour2025
The #EUBusTour2025 made a brief stop in Woreh community, Gbinle Chiefdom, to visit EU-funded projects implemented by implementing partner Develop Salone-DESAL NGO and Solidaridad West Africa . These initiatives are helping farmers build a sustainable cashew agroforestry value chain under the Jobs and Growth programme.
The project is delivering real impact for farmers in Sierra Leone through:
• Training 3,000 farmers via Farmer Field Schools
• Establishing 8 Farmer Support Centres with labour gangs for farm services
• Creating Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs) for cashew farmers and processors—60% of members are women
• Building a warehouse with 800 metric tonne capacity and a mini processing plant handling up to 800kg of raw cashew nuts daily
This effort supports the Government’s #FEEDSALONE initiative—boosting sustainable agriculture, job creation, food access, and economic empowerment, especially for women and youths.#EUnaSalone #EU4Yo
